The router fulfills the EN50155 and CEN TS 45545-2 standards. 

The NB3700 is a communication gateway for railways. Typical Applications are mobile Internet access for passengers, remote management, condition monitoring as well as connecting passenger information and
digital signage systems.

Key features and enhancements:

• SDK environment - provides a sandbox environment for running system jobs by means of self-scripted applications (closely modeled on the C programming language). The manual can be downloaded directly from the device.
• Load balancing and bundling of multiple WAN links including support for up to two 3G/4G modems on NB2700
• Improved NTP server obtaining the accurate time from GPS or local RTC (with 30 days backup)
• Voice-to-GSM gateway which can transfer incoming SIP calls into outgoing GSM calls (HD voice supported).
• Mobile IP offering seamless handover between multiple WAN links while current IP sessions, thus avoiding any VPN reconnects
• Storing the current configuration as factory default with the option to switch back

The effective output and quality of an industrial system is mainly defined by its production speed, accuracy and uptime. If one system fails the whole production is on hold and the manufacturer is losing money. Most equipment providers define tight maintenance intervals to avoid down-times. Internet technologies would allow even 24x7 condition monitoring and remote maintenance to increase the uptime. Unfortunately the network infrastructure in factories is different from place to place, and the existing equipment is often connected by legacy serial interfaces while newer machines typically support Ethernet. Instead of solving case by case with an individual and expensive solution customers are looking for one communication device which allows separating the application from the communication. Using a universal and flexible communication device which connects the machine to the service headquarter would allow 24x7 access. Besides supporting Ethernet, WLAN, mobile networks, serial lines this device has to guarantee that the machine can be accessed remotely by the service people at any time using the best available connection.
