The objective is always to make better use of our resources. This includes, among other things, the optimal cultivation, use and maintenance of healthy soils by recording soil properties and the resulting optimized use of fertilizers or pesticides. Optimized use of agricultural machinery and labor, optimized equipment maintenance intervals, and shorter transportation routes to the customer play an important role here.

Our routers can send the collected and pre-evaluated data to the user’s screen. A possible use case is the acquisition of measurement data via sensors that detect the condition of the soil, which is communicated to the tractor cab to assist the farmer by suggesting the appropriate tillage program.

The digital transformation in agriculture has included many applications, such as the sensor-supported, improved use of fertilizer; slimmed-down pest control; collection of soil quality data and forwarding to Environmental Protection Agency/Soil Management offices; collection of telemetry data from the vehicle fleet; machine synchronization; automated turning operations pre-programmed by manufacturers; autonomous seed drills; sensor-controlled animal monitoring for improved animal management; and much more.

The necessary data connection is provided by NetModule’s routers using 4G/3G/2G technology. The CAN, digital I/O, RS-232, and RS-485 interfaces can be used to read data from vehicle components, which can be evaluated directly on the router. A GNSS receiver with dead reckoning provides exact vehicle position data. WiFi can be used e. g. for connecting the trailer and its towing vehicle.

NetModule Routers are designed to and withstand vehicle vibration and to operate over a wide temperature range of –40°C /–40°F to +85°C/+185°F, with IP65 protection against moisture and dust. Thanks to automotive type approval (UN ECE R10 and UN ECE R118) and UL-94-V0 fire protection they can also be installed in special vehicles.
