In the extraction of raw materials, the automation of large-scale facilities such as mines, oil rigs, or pipelines translates into a significant increase in efficiency. For this purpose, entire areas are sometimes equipped with private LTE and WiFi networks to achieve consistent process automation.

NetModule’s products can be integrated into private LTE networks (eLTE), ad-hoc WiFi, or mesh networks to connect vehicles and machines. Often devices with railroad type approval (EN 50155), robust M12, TNC connectors, or automotive type approval (UN ECE R10/ISO 16750) are employed to resist the particularly harsh requirements.

At gas stations, various applications such as payment systems, advertising, customer information, or WiFi hotspot can be connected to the control center separately via a router. Different router models are often used to address the different conditions at gas stations and to meet the technological requirements of fiber optics, Ethernet, LTE, and soon also 5G. Combining technologies is also possible to ensure availability.

The extended operating temperature range (–40°C /–40°F to +85°C/+185°F) and the protection from water and dust afforded by an IP65 housing or by mounting the device in a cabinet allow outdoor use even under rough conditions.
